The College Chapel and the provision of a full time residential Chaplain was a part of the original thinking behind the very foundation of Morden College. The Chapel remains central to the life of the College and its residents and is for everyone regardless of belief, background or orientation.
The resident Chaplain is responsible to the Trustees for the spiritual welfare and pastoral care of both residents and staff, and the administration of The Charity of Dame Susan Morden, one of the two charities that make up the legacy of Sir John’s “Morden College”.
Services are held daily in the College Chapel and weekly at most of our other independent living residences in Blackheath and Beckenham, and in our Care Home.
Holy Communion is celebrated during the week in the College Chapel and in our Care Home each Sunday for residents, their families and friends. Evensong with visiting preachers alternates with Songs of Praise each month in Chapel. The cycle of the Church’s year prompts additional services, talks, and a range of visits around the country.
